A quick project in the dining room

Our next quick project was also happened upon out of the box of school wood work and metal work projects. We found a wooden serving tray which Jeremy crafted all those years back with some stunning stenciled art work on it!

Sarah found another matching placemat at the shops on sale – a perfect new base and a funky up-cycle of the tray.

Perfect for summer BBQ's and ice cold drinks!

Since we are focused on the kitchen and dining area at the moment I thought we should also upload a photo of the dining table as it currently stands. A bit mix-n-match with the chairs but we don't have a full functional set of the wooden chairs yet. Sarah is planning on salvaging the broken ones in the shed, fixing them up and then re-upholstering them. We like the glass top table top because it lets the light bounce around the small space and prevents it feeling crowded.

The thought is to re-upholster the full set of wooden chairs (the metal ones are really uncomfortable to sit in) and paint them black to match the table. A project for another day!

As you can see the walls in this area are a lighter shade of lilac - soon to be gone!  Bring on the Christmas holidays :)
