Slowly the excitement was wearing thin… having to drive back
home and wait.
Back to Bunnings, 11am
and the lady at the counter suggests that a trolley will be required to
transport the massive 10L can to the car, and our can of Jellybeans… yes the
bonus gift cheered us up quickly – buy 10L of paint and get a free 4L can of
Jellybeans. Now there’s a good reward
for painting!
The second coat goes on a lot quicker than yesterday. We now have skilled hands on the paint brush
and roller and we knock it out in about 2 hours – give or take a bit for
breaks!
Once it has dried to the touch we can’t wait to get the
furniture back in the room and bring the lounge back to a functional
state. We are both feeling a bit tired
and our arms are a bit achy from all the work so we are looking forward to
relaxing in front of TV tonight. The
lounge is fairly small with an awkward half height brick partition wall which
juts out separating the entrance foyer area from the lounge. Sarah would like to see this gone but it’s
too much to take on just yet and the aim for the moment is to only do bare
minimal face-lift work to freshen and update the house. We shall save that challenge for another day…
Rearranging the couch allows for better access to the master
bedroom (through the door, photo below) and walkway access into the kitchen (photo above). The couch is massive, we know, but it came
free with the house and is in good nick and super comfy so it is an element
that is staying and so we just have to work creatively with it in such a small
space. The furniture is a bit
mix-n-match, but for now we aren’t looking to buy anything new- if we can help
it!
All up we estimate the paint cost us about $100. Not too bad for a complete transformation.
The next fun challenge will be to find a mirror, some art work
and maybe some inside pot plants to add the finishing touches to this room. But till then we are proud of our first
attempt and excited to tackle the next room…
Looking awesome! Can not wait to see the fished transformation! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe Sarah can do our cutting in! We haven't even thought about completing the seal on the wall let alone actually painting - the thought of it gives me a headache haha!
