With the grass sprayed off and summer quickly approaching it was time to get these native plants out of their pots and into the ground.
We used some potting-mix to mix in with the sand to add some organic matter to it and a good soaking of Seasol to add liquid fertiliser and aid water absorption.
There's still a few more plants to go in yet, and then we will put in a good topping of bark mulch. This will help retain as much moisture as possible in the soil over the hot summer months.

Hi Sarah & Jeremy,
ReplyDeleteLove the small things what you putting in the ground and that's the way to do it in the new development of your garden, I'm sure that in a few months time that will be different scenario and your small plants will blossom !!!

Hi Eva;
ReplyDeleteYes we can't wait for the garden to grow and become our little sanctuary!
We are keeping a close eye on them this summer and making sure they don't expire in this heat! We have had one or two not make it so far out in the back garden - did you know that native plants don't wilt? Except for the kangaroo paws (they will droop to the ground if they need a drink) but others will just be fine one day and the next day - gone. That means this summer will be their ultimate test!
Great to hear from you :)
Sarah :D
